This checklist takes you from a new account to the first checkpoint scan on your dashboard. Work through it in order, because each step uses what the one before it created. One building, a few checkpoints and one guard are enough for a first test.

The checklist

  1. Finish the setup screens. Enter your company details, optionally add guards and sites, and pick a plan. See the next section.
  2. Add a building. Skip this if you added sites during setup, they are already in Buildings. Otherwise see Add a building.
  3. Add checkpoints and print their QR codes. Stick each code where the guard should scan it. See Add checkpoints and Print QR codes.
  4. Create a route. Put the checkpoints in the order the guard should walk them. See Create a route.
  5. Give a guard access to the mobile app. Guards you added during setup set their own password from an email (see below). To add someone now, see Add a guard and Guard access to the mobile app.
  6. Schedule a shift. Tell the guard where and when to patrol. See Schedule a shift.
  7. Install the app and sign in. Download App in the sidebar lists the app versions you can download. The guard signs in faster by scanning the Guard Login QR Code from your Dashboard. See Install the app and sign in.
  8. Scan the first checkpoint. See Scan checkpoints.
  9. Check that the scan arrived. See the last section below.

Finish the setup screens

Right after you register, QRPatrol shows four setup steps: Company, Guards, Buildings and Plan. You can't use the rest of the app until you finish them. Your progress is saved as you go, and you can click an earlier step at the top to go back to it.

  1. On Company information, fill in every field marked Required and click Next step. The Company slug becomes the company code your guards use to sign in.
  2. On Add your guards, enter a guard's name and email and click Add guard. Repeat for each guard, then click Next step. This step is optional.
  3. On Add your sites, enter a site's name and address and click Add site. To store its exact location, search the address above the map, then click the map or drag the pin. Repeat for each site, then click Next step. This step is optional too.
  4. On Choose your plan, pick Monthly or Annual, choose a plan and click Complete setup.

Creating your workspace can take up to a minute. When it is ready, QRPatrol opens your dashboard.

Guards added during setup choose their own password

Each guard you added gets an email with a code for setting their password in the mobile app. The code is valid for 15 minutes. If it runs out, the guard can ask for a new one with the forgotten password option on the app's sign-in screen.

Check that the scan arrived

  1. Open the Dashboard.
  2. Look at Recent Checkpoint Scans. The scan shows the checkpoint, the building, the guard and how long ago it happened.
  3. While a patrol is running, follow it in Active patrols or on the live map.

The dashboard doesn't refresh by itself. If the scan isn't there yet, reload the page.
