Every checkpoint has a QR code on the wall. Scanning it records that you were there, with the time and your location. Turn on location (GPS) on your phone before you start: the app needs it to start a patrol, record each scan and end the patrol.

Start a foot patrol

  1. On the home screen, tap Start Shift at the bottom.
  2. If the app asks Select Patrol Type, tap Foot Patrol.
  3. Under Select Building, tap the building you are patrolling.

The patrol starts straight away. The top card shows the building with an Active badge and how many checkpoints you have scanned. Under My Routes, tap a route to see its checkpoints in order.

Scan a checkpoint

  1. Tap the round QR button at the bottom right of the screen.
  2. Point the camera at the checkpoint's QR code.

A green message confirms the scan. The checkpoint gets a green tick in its route and the counter on the top card goes up.

When a scan isn't saved

Instead of the confirmation, the app shows an error. The usual reasons:

Reason What to do
Location is off or not available Turn on location and scan again.
You scanned the same checkpoint less than 5 minutes ago Nothing. The first scan already counts.
The code isn't a checkpoint of your company Check you are scanning a QRPatrol checkpoint label.
Your location is very far from the checkpoint Make sure location is on and you are at the right building.

Always scan at the checkpoint itself. A scan made away from it is still saved, but your company sees that your location didn't match.

End the patrol

Tap End Patrol on the top card. A message confirms that the patrol has ended.

Car patrols

If you tap Car Patrol under Select Patrol Type, or you can only do car patrols, the patrol starts as soon as the Guard Patrol screen opens. Tap Scan Now at the bottom to scan a checkpoint. To end the patrol, tap the red stop icon at the top right.
